Description

The Veil Nebula is a supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus.  The source star is believed to have been 20 times larger than the Sun and exploded between 10,000 and 20,000 years ago.  It is located 2400 light years away and was discovered in 1784 by William Herschel.
